Beth Williams

Beth L. Williams joined the Vera Institute of Justice, Guardianship Project in 2018 as Deputy Director of Legal Services, and continues to serve Project Guardianship in that capacity. Beth specializes in representing clients in complex landlord-tenant matters where she has obtained positive outcomes in Housing Court, Supreme Court, and appellate courts.  Beth has also won numerous victories for her clients in city, state, and federal administrative proceedings. In addition, Beth has developed strategic partnerships with a wide range of government and community-based organizations, and spearheaded the creation of the Coalition to Assist Limited Capacity New Yorkers.

Prior to joining Project Guardianship, Beth supervised the Manhattan tenancy defense practice at New York Legal Assistance Group and the Staten Island tenancy defense practice at CAMBA Legal Services. Beth began her career at Lowenstein Sandler, where she represented various stakeholders in complex chapter 11 cases in federal bankruptcy court and served as the Alan V. Lowenstein Public Interest Fellow in the Housing and Income Maintenance Law Unit at Essex-Newark Legal Services.  

Beth serves on the Judiciary Committee of the LGBT Bar Association of Greater New York and on the Civil Committee of the New York Women’s Bar Association, and is a member of the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association and the New York City Bar Association.

A native of Arkansas, Beth graduated magna cum laude from the University of Arkansas with a B.A. in Philosophy and obtained her J.D. from Boston College Law School.
