Justin Roberts

Data and Policy Manager

Justin Roberts joined Project Guardianship in 2019. Before joining, Justin worked at Friends of Island Academy as a Data Associate where he helped to develop information collection and sharing tools for direct services to currently and previously incarcerated youth in New York City. Prior to Friends, Justin reviewed international indicators and city policies as part of the Global Urban Futures Project, in line with The New Urban Agenda, 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, and other related international agendas put forth by the United Nations.

Outside of work, Justin is a board member of the Rikers Debate Project, where he leads classes at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn and at facilities on Rikers Island.

Before moving to New York to further pursue his interest in healthy communities, Justin mentored at-risk youth in Chicago public schools in high-crime Chicago neighborhoods. There, he also worked with youth and community members to reduce crime and improve communications within the community. Justin received an MA in international affairs with a concentration in cities and social justice from the New School in New York and a BA in sociology from DePaul University in Chicago.
